Pretty self-explanatory. Jazz invest on a future backcourt of Reaves and Bailey. If Collier keeps progressing Bailey can even shift down to small forward for a new run and gun foundation. Markannen and Kessler were frustrated at being forced to sit for a tanking team. Both players get moved to situations where they will play.
The Jazz get 3 FRPs to help set up an OKC-like potential future while Reaves, Bailey, and Collier cook. Knecht is another solid prospect who could develop into the starting small forward, as well if Collier doesn't keep improving. Sheppard is a solid young 3-D shooting guard who looks to be getting squeezed out of Indiana's rotation, but his hustle and IQ make up for the times his 3 point shot can be inconsistent. Jackson is still only 23 and still has a decent ceiling. Hachimura could be retained as a better, cheaper John Collins.
For the Lakers, Reaves and Luka are redundant. They pair Luka with the closest thing to Dirk Nowitzki currently in the NBA. Lauri's been cooking in euro-ball. He and Luka would be an elite pairing in a post-LeBron LA. Getting a Nowitzki-like talent for the cost of Reaves (who they are hesitant to pay $30 million/year), Knecht and a single first is great value.
Indiana takes on Kleber to match salary, but the big get is a future center to pair with their championship-level core. Of course it costs the Pacers 2 young role players and 2 firsts.
I feel like the value all around is pretty close for each team, let me know what tweaks could take place to get the deal through. Toppin could be swapped out for Isaiah Jackson and the trade could be completed today.
