Heat:

The past 2+ years of drama in Memphis has made it easy to forget the conversations Ja had played himself into. This is a generational athlete whose finishing, speed, handle, and vision led the Grizzlies to two consecutive years as the 2 seed in the West. His value has been depressed recently for a reason, but if the Memphis front office is willing to call it quits, Miami should call. The Heat are low on draft capital but high on championship level surrounding talent. The problem is they don't have a #1. As talented as Bam and Herro are, neither is a true primary offensive option. Morant can be. With how much defensive playmaking Miami has on the roster, Morant would instantly turn the Heat into a monster transition unit. In the half-court, the spacing should be good enough to allow Morant to consistently pressure the rim. In a weak Eastern conference, this could be the swing to make for Miami.

Grizzlies:

If Memphis is done being the Morant team, this is a good package that would give Memphis the ability to go either direction. If they want to blow it up, Herro would command real value around the league in a second trade. If they want to compete, they would sneakily become a serious trade destination. The two extra firsts from this deal and the treasure trove they received from Desmond Bane would position them to go after the next star who becomes available on the trade market. Herro is a good enough offensive player to be a legit co-star if they were to keep him, and holds enough value to be the outgoing salary in a big-time trade.
