The New Orleans Pelicans have the worst record in the NBA. At this point everyone can see they’re headed towards a major reset. What seemed to be the season they move on from BI has become the season they move on from both BI and Zion and by extansion Murray and McCollum. So why stop there?

Daryl Morey and the Sixers have sat on the assets they acquired from the Harden trade for over a year now and despite a disappointing start to the season riddled with injuries, they still find themselves in the playoff hunt with nearly half the season remaining. Their issues on the court primarily stem from the offense but that isn’t necessarily their issues long term. As good as they have been defensively, they need more size and athleticism at the Power Forward position. Yabusele has done an exceptional job holding down that position as their only true 4 on the roster but he alone will not be sustainable in the postseason when they face the big forwards on the Cavs, Knicks, Celtics and even Magic.

Herb Jones is not a traditional 4 by any means. However as one of the best defenders in the league at 6’8” with a 7’0” wingspan, he fits right with what the Sixers need to be a threat in the East. To have a top 8 of PG, Maxey, Embiid, Jones, Martin, Oubre, Yabusele, and Drummond presents a well balanced roster with size, athleticism, shooting and defensive ability.

Parting with what would’ve been the steal of the draft in Jared McCain is a tough pill to swallow but softened by his season ending injury. Landing him along with a high value future pick already sets up the Pels for a healthy rebuild without even dealing away their top 4-5 guys yet.
