WHY SACRAMENTO DOES IT: The Kings recently fired Mike Brown and there have been reports of De’Aaron Fox being unhappy. Sacramento should trade their big 3 and start over. The trade gives them the ability to give Keegan Murray a more expended role whilst trying to draft a new star or lure someone else in. Simons & Okongwu can become core pieces too. They gain 5 FRP’S as well.
Simons can provide some much needed offence for the Kings. If he sticks around long term he’ll be a key part of their core.
Russell is an expiring deal that Sacramento should let expire. If he plays well enough they could resign him.
Bogdanovic can up his trade value in Sacramento as he would return to a familiar building and potentially familiar system.
Okongwu is Sabonis replacement and he could hopefully become a key piece of their core whilst elevating his offensive game.
Nance Jr. an expiring deal that Sacramento should let expire. If he plays well enough they could resign him.
Vincent can try to revive his career is Sacramento by upping his value to try to get traded.
Thybulle may not stick around long term but his defence would be much needed in the short term to try to keep Sacramento somewhat competitive.
Kris Murray getting to play alongside his would be a dream. Just like his brother he’ll be a key long term pieces for the Kings.
WHY PORTLAND DOES IT: The Blazers are tanking. This trade could be their way out. They get a number one option and whilst this may hinder Scoot’s development it makes Portland somewhat capable of a play-in push.
Fox is the key piece Portland needs. A number one option aloha scorer. They haven’t seen that since Dame left last year. Fox can score in many ways and help Portland push for the play-in and then eventually get other pieces around him.
Vanderbilt may never really be healthy but when he is healthy his defensive impact would film the hole Thybulle would’ve left behind. If he plays he elevates Portland defence up another level.
Roddy is mostly a salary filler but can contribute for Portland. He can provide some 3PT shooting and defence when needed.
Matthews is another salary filler but he can shoot the 3 and is an alright defender and could be utilised by Portland.
McLaughlin is an expiring deal and will probably be waived.
Jones could be apart of Portland plans long term as a 3&D wing.
WHY ATLANTA DOES IT: The Hawks are somewhat exceeding expectations and are quietly one of the best teams in the East. The trade makes them a contender.
Sabonis is the big fish here. He would create a great scoring and playmaking one-two punch with Trae Young who can be given the freedom to shoot more which will take the pressure off Sabonis offensively. He gives Atlanta their first star center since Mutumbo in the 2000’s.
Wood is an expiring deal who may be waived by Atlanta but he could provide a scoring punch.
Banton can provide bench scoring and playmaking as a backup behind Trae. He’s an expiring deal and if he plays well Atlanta would resign him.
Len is an expiring deal and will likely be waived.
Robinson is also an expiring deal and will likely be waived.
Walker can be used as a backup by Atlanta. He can provide a little bit of everything for the Hawks. He’s an expiring deal and if he plays well Atlanta would resign him.
WHY LA DOES IT: The Lakers should be looking for another scorer behind LeBron and AD who can share the 3rd option role with Austin Reaves. This trade would push the Lakers into potential contention or sabotage them again.
DeRozan is a big coup for LA. He becomes their 3rd option and relieves pressure off of LeBron and AD. DeRozan would be looking to bounce back after a rough start to season in Sacramento.
Williams III is the backup big LA has wanted forever. He’s a great defender and he can get easy buckets in the paint. The problem is he’s never healthy like Vando. He might not play for LA all that much bit of he does he’d elevate them up another level defensively.
Zeller has a heavy contract and will likely be waived.
Ellis is a steal for LA. He’s a great 3&D player and could start in the backcourt next to Reaves or off the bench next to Knecht. If he plays well enough LA would probably extend him.
