Reasons for doing it:

Pelicans- They finish blowing up this group with trading someone who has been there for only a few months. They get back 3 firsts, which is more than they gave up for him, and Marcus Smart who could probably be flipped for a 2nd or 2. They gain a lot of assets from this blowup (check out the other 2 trades that I created) and if they play their cards right, they could be back in the playoffs with a roster that can contend in 3-4 years.

Grizzlies- The Grizzlies are currently 3rd in the West with a roster that can actually make a playoff run if they are healthy. They need help on defense though, and that is exactly what they are getting with Dejounte Murray. They don't have to give up anything too crazy, although trading 3 first slightly hurts, that's what you have to do if you want to contend. With this addition, they could definitely have a good chance to make the WCF.
