New CBA loophole Idea

FAILED

So Isaac being released gave me this idea for how GMs can theoretically abuse a loophole in the CBA. To waive and stretch a player the formula is 2 times the length of the contract plus 1. So Isaac has 3 years left and if they stretch his contract they'll be able to stretch his 8 mill over 7 years. That's a tiny cap hit. Now my idea would be to go to someone like DeMar who they want to waive and tell him we're going to waive you but first we want you extend you and give you an extra (we'll use 1 mill here) amount of money. So DeMar signs a nearly fully non guaranteed extension for 4 years and now has 11 mill that can be stretched over 11 years instead of 10 mill in 1 or 3.3 over 3. This may not seem like a big deal with this example but if it's Lavine who is owed 48 mill that's 16 mill over the next 3 years if they were to waive him. If he signed a 4 year extension they can save an extra 12 mill this year. I wouldn't suggest this in general but if the difference between being a luxury team and non luxury team is a 1 year extension (3 year stretch to 5 year stretch) this may make more sense to them as that can save them an extra 6.5 mill this season.
