Why Washington Does This: Every move that GM Will Dawkins makes this season should be for the future, and this trade does exactly that. Jonas has been an amazing vet and mentor to Sarr, while also putting up good stats for a backup big but it's time to trade him while his value is still respectfully high. Moody's career in Golden State has been more downs than up, mainly due to the fact that Steve Kerr hasn't been able to put enough trust in giving him consistent minutes. Well Moody wouldn't have to worry about that on a 4-21 Wizards team that's main goal this season has been to give their young players a ton of minutes. I could even see a scenario where he starts some games in the backcourt next to former teammate Jordan Poole. Milton & Santos are just here for salary purposes and the two seconds Heat 2025 2nd was originally traded to GSW as part of the Dennis Schroder trade is a nice cherry on the top. Side note Moses Moody can be traded as it's called the Poison Pill Provision, but it's only happened once back in 2004 with Devin Harris.

STARING UNIT: J. POOLE/B. CARRINGTON/B. COULIBALY/K. KUZMA/A. SARR

BENCH UNIT: M. BROGDON/M. MOODY/C. KISPERT/K. GEORGE/M. BAGLEY lll

Wizards will have to waive two players as they would have 17 players under contract after this trade

Why Golden State Does This: When the Warriors made the trade for Schroder, it was a clear sign that GM Mike Dunleavy Jr is in buying mode. That's not enough though, I feel like getting at minimum two more high level role players should be the next move to make, Finney-Smith & Valanciunas checks off that exact box. For Dorian he gives coach Kerr a good amount of 3&D wing/forward options to choose from with him, Wiggins & Kuminga. This is a player that this front office has been looking to trade for in the past, and for good reason as his architype would fit perfectly in a lineup with Curry. As for Valanciunas, he would greatly improve a rotation of Looney & TJD that just isn't cutting it. Jonas is always going to be a double/double threat every night, and that's extremely valuable for a big that is comfortable either coming off the bench or starting. I don't know how big of a loss not having GP2, Moody & Anderson would be since they respectfully rank 12th, 13th & 14th in MPG on the team this season. I could see GP2 being the one who's defensive presence is missed the most, but he could be replaced by just signing a Dennis Smith Jr who's been itching to get back in the league.

STARTING UNIT: S. CURRY/D. SCHRODER/A. WIGGINS/D. GREEN/K. LOONEY

BENCH UNIT: B. PODZIEMSKI/B. HIELD/J. KUMINGA/D. FINNEY-SMITH/J. VALANCIUNAS

Warriors will have to sign one player to their 15-Man roster, as they would only have 12 players under contract after this trade

Why Brooklyn Does This: The Nets have already begun selling mode, with the Sean Marks trading Schroder to Golden State for Melton & 3 future 2nds. However I do believe he's got to get at minimum a first for both Finney-Smith and Cam Johnson as they are the two biggest trade pieces available for Brooklyn. That is checked off in this trade as this front office acquires a 2025 1st via GSW. GP2 & Kyle Anderson are both players that can be flipped for draft capital down the road, more urgent player to get draft capital for would be Payton ll as he becomes an unrestricted FA at the end of this season. I really do believe all parties involved get exactly what they need in this trade.

STARTING UNIT: B. SIMMONS/C. THOMAS/Z. WILLIAMS/C. JOHNSON/N. CLAXTON

BENCH UNIT: G. PAYTON ll/K. JOHNSON/J. WILSON/N. CLOWNEY/D. SHARPE
