This is a scenario where the Mavs end up failing to get anybody to come to Dallas via free agency or by trade and end up without the big 3 they are looking to get. In a scenario like this, I feel like the Kings that seem to be moving towards the direction of a rebuild would try to get something for Zach Lavine's nearly 50 million dollar contract. Because of the size of the contract, not many deals can really be done and getting a pick out of it isn't something I see happening... Thats why I added Detroit. Detroit sends over what should 2 pretty high up second round picks to the Mavericks for Caleb Martin, who needs to be sent out for financial purposes to make the trade work in the first place. This package is pretty much the only good trade value the Mavs have that doesnt involve Klay, AD, Lively or Kyrie that could get them a truly good 3rd option, a role I think Lavine can and should be playing. Will this save the Mavericks and win them a ring? If everyone stays healthy idk maybe (that wont happen)
