FAILED

Welcome back to another trade by kawntent sports, where today we will be exploring a scenario in which Damian Lillard, James Harden, and their teams all play hardball and hold out until January to complete this trade scenario.

Why the Heat do this:

The Heat form a team around a Finals core that includes Damian Lillard and James Harden. Lillard, Harden, Butler, and Adebayo form an insane lineup with Finals-caliber role players including Kevin Love, Josh Richardson, Furkan Korkmaz, Thomas Bryant, and Jamal Cain. This setup should bring a new Heatles era to Miami and the last one was successful; this one should be too. The Heat also have the best coaching staff in the league to tie the entire roster together and develop the players at the very end of the rotation.

Why the Raptors do this:

The Raptors find Scottie Barnes failing to play point guard full-time and acquire a better fit in Tyler Herro in exchange for a still-disgruntled Anunoby. By the deadline, Anunoby's contract situation will make him much less valuable while Herro remains under contract longer-term.

Why the Blazers do this:

By the deadline, the Blazers need to get the Lillard situation over with. The locker room will be odd without him but his presence still looming, and this trade enables the team to move on fully and acquire great players in exchange. They acquire valuable picks and pick swaps from Miami along with Naz Reid, Nikola Jovic, Kyle Lowry, Jaime Jaquez, and OG Anunoby. Lowry will fix the locker room bringing veteran leadership and Anunoby will have plenty of opportunity in Toronto with the updated offense. They also flip Jerami Grant's long-term money for an expiring Tobias Harris who they proceed to cut, giving up just a second-round pick for that long-term cap flexibility.

Why the Timberwolves do this:

The Wolves flip a player who is clearly a backup in their plans in Naz Reid in exchange for a variety of role players including Thaddeus Young, Keon Johnson, and Jabari Walker, along with several second round picks. This gives the Wolves the pick equity they've been lacking since the Gobert trade to improve around the edges and frees up the center rotation.

Why the 76ers do this:

Harden holding out will diminish his value to the 76ers who could still reasonably be a good team without him. They acquire role players around Maxey and Embiid, bringing in Jusuf Nurkic, Duncan Robinson, Caleb Martin, and Haywood Highsmith. They bring in some second round picks to make up for some of the losses in acquiring Harden. They also flip Tobias Harris for Jerami Grant, bringing in long-term contract and a better tertiary scorer in exchange for extra second round picks.

This is a massive deal, so let me know your thoughts on it in the comments. It certainly relies on a lot of players holding out and a lot of teams being in certain situations, but I believe it works well.
