Timberwolves just got eliminated from the conference finals for the second time in a row and they need to go over some issues this offseason. As presently constructed, I believe they do not have enough to win a championship, let alone going to the NBA Finals with OKC and other West teams in the way. Therefore, they have to make a risk to trade for Kevin Durant. Here's why each of these teams in this scenario would benefit from this trade.
Timberwolves: You finally get ANT and KD on the same team, you still have Jaden McDaniels, Terrence Shannon Jr is a young piece that you can keep around and now you have to trust Rob Dillingham, the guy you drafted can be a positive impact on this team. You also get rid of the Rudy Gobert contract by trading for Deandre Ayton. It's a huge risk, but I believe they can make the best out of it.
Blazers: You have some draft capital and you do not need to pay a lot to Deandre Ayton, most likely I believe you wouldn't resign Deandre Ayton anyways so you can take advantage of the situation. You can have Rudy mentoring Donovan Clingan on defense as he was 3x Defensive Player of the Year. You still have a young core to work with and having Rudy could push things in the right direction.
Suns: You have some pieces that you can work with and although it is not the best, at least it is a start and not the worst. Mike Conley can ease a little bit of ball handling from Devin Booker, you have another scorer like Julius Randle that can score from all three levels and can bully ball, and you have Donte DiVinchenzo that can provide a boost from the bench. However, you will be over the 2nd apron space so unfortunately you have to trade Grayson Allen and Royce O'Neale and the teams I believe that can be suited for those guys are Atlanta and Detroit.
Atlanta: Adding Grayson Allen to this team would not only help your bench depth but I believe he should mentor Dyson Daniels even if it costs some 2nd round picks.
Detroit: Adding Royce O'Neale would be a great addition to your bench even if costs some 2nd round picks.
Let me know what y'all think of this trade. Let's get it or GTFO. Thank you.
