``This is my first non-graphic-design trade post in a while because this trade is small enough to not warrant one. Two rebuilding teams are swapping assets with very little perceived value, each hoping for a breakout season from the guys they get in this trade.
Why the Wizards do this:
The Wizards have no real number-one option employed on the roster. Poole, Kuzma, Sarr, and Val’s skill sets are designed to be supporting cast members and making any of them the primary focal point of an offense will hinder their production. On the other hand, Micic thrives as the primary option. A former EuroLeague MVP, his game is made for having the ball in his hands and the keys to the offense. He has struggled in the NBA because he has been a supporting piece on his teams rather than the main guy. This is a massive opportunity for him to show his worth as the main option of an NBA team. If all goes to plan, Micic will be the main guy and the supporting cast will perform better in their new roles. And if it doesn’t work out, this is also a very low-risk trade for the Wizards.
Why the Hornets do this:
Micic needs the ball in his hands to be effective, and there are too many strong players in Charlotte for that to happen. This trade gets a bit of value back for him: a future second round pick and two young-ish players who might be worth something someday. Again, a low-risk, high-reward trade for Charlotte.
