OG / Kuzma / Ingram

SUCCESS

So, Pelicans were already unhappy with the way he handled his toe injury, and don't want to pay Ingram 48-50/yr. But, would they want to pay OG 10 mil/year less over the same time period?

Avoiding '24 draft pick scenarios, as the S&T would be done later, and want to avoid collusion.

In this case, Pelicans trade the Ingram decision lock in OG for 38/yr and receive 3 2nd rounders (2 likely to be high) spread over the next few years. In the near-term, they would still need to make a decision on the C position, but they could throw out Jones & OG defensively at the same time, cost controlled for the next 3 years, which is scary.

Washington has been interested in Mitch (and interested in getting value for Kuzma). In return for taking on assets & salary to facilitate the deal, they get full control of their '25 pick, Mitch, Bojan, a 2027 NYK swap, and 2 seconds (so, 3 seconds out -> 2 seconds, their own 1st, and a 1st swap back). They can turn around & get draft capital for the players if needed / wanted after 60 days.

Knicks lose OG, Mitch, Bojan, and some of their future draft capital, but end up with Ingram & Kuzma. They still keep all their future 1sts, along with the MIL '25 & protected DET pick, and keep maximizing assets in case a mega-star were to pop out.
