I find this trade option interesting for both teams. It's a case of trading "high floor" for "high ceiling", and I think with the direction both teams are heading, it makes sense.
Kings look like a team that is on the brink of tearing it down. In preparation for doing so, they look to trade Keon Ellis for a player that is a higher risk Shaedon Sharpe, but one who has shown flashes of all-star level talent at only 22-years of age to develop as a part of entering in a new rebuild.
With Portland trying to take a more win-now approach, they sacrifice the upside of Shaedon Sharpe for a player who projects to be a highly impactful 3-and-D shooting guard who's skill set is more complimentary with more ball dominant playmakers in Avdija, Scoot, and Hansen.
