De’Aaron Fox sold the Spurs out, and Miami needs a star on the perimeter. Why not solve both problems at once?

Why the Spurs do this:

Fox is sent out in exchange for two really solid role players in Wiggins and Mitchell who will bolster this Spurs roster’s depth while also clearing a lot of cap space next offseason, enabling the team to extend Wemby, Castle, and Harper as necessary without the apron penalties. LeBron James also joins the team, creating a Bron-Wemby duo to lead San Antonio to the 2027 championships

Why the Heat do this:

Fox is still a fringe All Star level guard, and the Heat acquire him for two role players without giving up any picks. Miami goes all in on star power here, creating a Fox-Giannis-Bam big 3 and hoping that the multistar formula can make a comeback and win a championship.
