Nets explanation: Finney-Smith is a good defender and pretty good shooter, but he doesn’t provide much vale to the current Nets team. With Luka, he was able to get wide open looks because of Luka’s gravity and playmaking. On Brooklyn, his value tanked because he wasn’t able to get wide open looks all the time. Getting the 17th pick to pair along picks 20 and 21 will allow them to move into the lottery if they wanted to. They also save some money which will help them re-sign Cam Johnson. Bamba could also give them some good minutes off the bench.
Lakers explanation: Lakers need to win now as LeBron’s window will probably be closing soon (we say this every year though😂) so a rookie won’t help too much. Finney-Smith was terrific on the Mavs with Luka getting him wide open looks. You know who else would get him wide open looks? Bron. Dorian would also give them some lineup versatility because they can switch up their starting lineup game to game. Bamba isn’t even getting minutes in the playoffs so losing him won’t matter much.
