Grizzlies Blow It Up

SUCCESS

76ers: JJJ, Aldama, Konchar

Pelicans: Ja, Jerome, Clarke

Warriors: Caldwell-Pope, Missi

Grizzlies: Kuminga, Mccain, Bona, Poole, Murray, Melton, PG, 2028 Pelicans Unprotected 1st, 2028 Clippers Unprotected 1st (Via 76ers), 2031 76ers Unprotected 1st

This trade started from me thinking about the 76ers, and how JoJo is slowly looking more and more like his old self. If that's the case, the team can make a real run at it this year, but I don't see that happening with PG's contract on this roster. I then started thinking, what team could be in such a bad spot that they could be convinced to take on that contract. Obviously the Grizzlies comes to mind. Thus the Grizzlies blowing it up is born.

76ers solidify their front court with a great defender to play along side the slower footed Embiid. Not only that, but they get a great bench connector/rebounder in Aldama to improve depth. To acquire two great players, and move off one of the worst contracts in the league, they lose two interesting young guys in Bona, and Mccain, but mainly two very interesting unprotected 1st round picks.

Pelicans want to be good right now, we saw this with them trading away this years picks. I don't think they're anywhere near where they should be to making buying moves, but hey, if they insist, I'll help mock up some ideas. In this idea they move off of not only one but two relatively (if not completely) useless contracts on their books in Poole, and Murray, to buy low on the once All-NBA level of talent of Ja Morant. They also get the proven to show flashes guy, Ty Jerome, and a very interesting player, who still needs to reprove himself, in Clarke. The only things it hurts for them to lose, is the young big man Missi, who could turn into quite the big, and a very interesting 2028 unprotected pick. Again, if I'm the Pelicans gm, I don't make a buying move like this, but then again, this is the Pelicans we're talking about, and with what they've shown us, this seems very possible.

The Warriors are in this deal to take a big man from the Grizzlies, since they're getting two good young bigs in this deal, and already have Edey on the books, we'll ship one off. I put Missi to the Warriors, but really you could plug whichever big you think best in Missi, Edey, or Bona. The Warriors continue to show holes in their game, and those holes mainly look to be the lack of Kevon Looney. They desperately need that energetic rebounding again, and I believe Missi can provide that. Caldwell-Pope also gives you one more player you can count on to give you great defense night in and night out...you can't quite say the same about his shot these days, but playing off of Steph and Jimmy should open up more easy shots, and get him back in the flow of his offense more. In return they lose Kuminga, such a big loss for the Warriors...lol.

The Griz mainly do this deal to completely get out of all the drama, and start fresh. To start fresh they get rewarded with 3 potentially really good picks, and a few flyers in Kuminga, Mccain, and Bona. They use the next few years to finish up these awful contracts that they took back to acquire the picks and young guys, and really decide who on their roster is worth building around in the future, and use these new picks to do just that.

I could see the Griz getting another pick or two, but I think I've made this trade fair for everyone, let me know what you think!
