New year, new Knicks trade! Knicks solidify bench depth, Nets take fliers and assets. Who says no?

Hey everyone! Happy New Year! Excited for another year of great hoops. This trade sees the Knicks making a final adjustment to their bench, bringing in an excellent fit in Ziaire Williams who will fit nicely with the youth that now makes up the bench. The Knicks have great shooting staff that will hopefully allow Williams to finally reach his potential, but at the very minimum he is an excellent defender and explosive, high IQ cutter on offense. This opens up some extra cap to either sign a free agent, convert McCullar Jr, or both. The rotation would include Brunson, Hart, Bridges, OG, KAT, Kolek, Deuce, Clarkson, Shamet, McCullar, Williams, Diawara, Robinson, and Hukporti. This allows Mike brown to keep players healthy with rest and in case of injury some good backup options.

For the Nets, it’s seemed over the past slate of games that Williams may not be a long term piece as was once thought when he first blossomed under Jordi. This trade sees them get back Yabusele, Dadiet, and essentially 3 second round picks. Dadiet is still an excellent project that fits the rebuild timeline, and Yabusele fits their MO of taking in players for assets, getting their value up, and shipping them out again for more assets. Could even be attached with Porter Jr at the deadline if he builds up enough value to be a positive asset, or could hold and trade next year.

Let me know your thoughts below! Who wins here? Who says no? What would you change? And as always, keep it respectful and constructive please, especially in the new year!
