Overview

It is no secret that the Jazz have had some issues this season that have became even more evident this post-season. I don’t believe there is any way for them to remain highly competitive with this team. Sadly I think it is time for the Gobert/Mitchell era to come to an end. In this trade they would trade away Gobert, Mitchell, and Conley in return for a good young core as well as some draft picks.

Jazz

The Jazz do this trade as it allows them to hit the reset button and start fresh. I believe this is a really good return for their core and would be a great start to a rebuild.

They trade Gobert to the Nets for Ben Simmons. He is a great young star to build around. They also get pick 24 and Nic Claxton, but those 2 assets are rerouted to OKC in order to move up in the draft.

They trade Mitchell to the Magic for a package of Mo Bamba (s&t), Markele Fultz, Bol Bol, pick 32, pick 35, 2023 FRP (CHI), and a 2025 FRP (DEN). While this may not seem like the best return, I believe it is a quite fair one for Mitchell. They get a young versatile big in Bamba, a former #1 pick in Fultz, a high upside prospect in Bol, and what is essentially 4 FRPs.

They then trade Conley to the Knicks for a package of Cam Reddish, Taj Gibson, Kemba Walker, and pick 42. Pick 42 is then rerouted to OKC in order to move up in the draft. Taj Gibson would be cut as his contract is non guaranteed. They would get a good young wing in Reddish for Conley which I think is a great return.

The last thing the Jazz would get is pick 12 from OKC. With this pick I would have them taking Tari Eason from LSU. In order to get this pick they would trade Nic Claxton (BKN), pick 24 (BKN), and pick 42 (NYK). Eason would give them a wing with potential as both a scorer and defender.

Some moves I would see the Jazz needing to make from here would be to trade any and all veteran players of value. I believe they would want to try and acquire draft picks as these trades would give them a good amount of young talent. Next year I think they should play all of their young guys and focus on developing them. Hopefully this will land them the top pick so they can take Victor.

Nets

This post-season for the Nets has been less than ideal. After fighting their way into the playoffs they’re now in the brink of being swept. Ben Simmons has yet to play, and when he finally does no one knows what Ben Simmons we will get.

The Nets biggest weaknesses are on the interior. They need help their on either side of the ball. In this trade they would get that help in Rudy Gobert. They would only be giving up Ben Simmons, Nic Claxton, and pick 24.

Gobert would give them a true force on the interior. He would be able to feast on wide open dunks and layups due to the attention Kyrie and KD require offensively. Defensively he would be able to play a similar role to what he does in Utah. I believe he would have more help defensively in Brooklyn then he currently does.

This would give the Nets a true 3rd star who fits well in their timeline alongside KD and Kyrie. He also covers up their biggest weaknesses and really improves the team.

Magic

One of the Magics biggest needs is a true #1 scoring option. In this trade they go and get a very talented young star in Donavan Mitchell. These types of talents are hardly ever available, so as a small market team when you have a chance to get one you do it.

In order to get Mitchell they give up Mo Bamba (s&t), Markele Fultz, Bol Bol, pick 32, pick 35, 2023 FRP (CHI), and 2025 FRP (DEN). This is good for them as they don’t have to give up any of their own FRPs. As far as players go they only have to give up 3. Bamba is a FA and is currently stuck behind WCJ, Fultz is part of a crowded backcourt, and Bol won’t get much PT next year as Isaac will be back and they’re drafting a PF.

Mitchell would give them a much needed offensive boost. It would allow them to trade away part of their crowded backcourt as well. With the 2nd pick I would have them select Chet Holmgren. He gives them rim protection and floor spacing.

With the additions of Mitchell and Chet as well as the return of Jonathan Isaac I believe the Magic could make the play in next year and even possibly the playoffs. This trade would be a huge step in the right direction for them.

Knicks

It is no secret that one of the Knicks biggest needs is PG. While many fans may want them to draft one, I do not see one available in their range worth the selection. In this trade they would get a good veteran floor general in Conley. He would be able to run the offense for them and make life easier on Barrett and Randle.

In order to get Conley they would give up Cam Reddish, Taj Gibson, Kemba Walker, and pick 42. This is good value for them as they are only giving up players who play sparingly and a second round pick.

The next move I would have the Knicks take is to draft Benedict Mathurin with the 11th pick. I believe he would be a great fit and would fill the void Reddish left and then some.

Thunder

The Thunder are in a weird spot with their picks in this years draft. There is no player at a position of need available at #4, so I have them selecting Shaedon Sharpe. While there are a number of forward available at 12, there are no centers worthy of the pick. That is problematic for them as it is their biggest need and they wouldn’t be able to fill it until the late first round.

In this trade they would give up pick 12 and get pick 24, 42, and Nic Claxton back in return. This would give them a good young center in Claxton, and would allow them to pick a forward at 24. At 42 they could trade the pick again or take a swing on a high upside prospect.

At 24 I have them selecting a potential multi positional defender in Harrison Ingram. Then at 42 they would be able to select a project big man like Jaylin Williams. They would also have pick 34 where I have them selecting Justin Lewis.

Conclusion

Thank you to everyone that took the time to read this! This took a lot of time to come up with as well as to type out. While I know it isn’t a perfect trade, I think it is a pretty good one. Also a big thank you to Kyrie and Bron as I sent them about a hundred potential trades that they looked over before I got to this one.
