Seen rumors of Pels and Wizards trading up to 3 for Bailey, I thought it might be interesting to see Zion involved in this trade. This is the result of that thought experiment.

Why the Sixers do this:

The Sixers build a past-decade-Clippers-esque roster of Maxey/McCain/Zion/Embiid. At best it’s a guaranteed chip off pure talent. At worst it’s ticket sales and jersey and ad revenue. Plus you get off the Paul George contract.

Why the Pelicans do this:

If the Pels are interested in Ace Bailey this is the simplest way to get him. They also keep their other lotto pick so they can build on Bailey’s timeline with whoever else they want. Maybe you trade guys like Murphy and Jones, or maybe you let Bailey develop alongside them.

Why the Wizards do this:

With Coulibaly, George, Sarr, Bub, etc the Wizards have their young core. Olynyk is much better than Holmes and could help this group make a play-in push this year while helping the young guys more than the bad Holmes contract.

Why the Bucks do this:

Dame is out for next season, but the Bucks aren’t equipped to rebuild. Paul George does have a bad contract but it enables the Bucks to still try and make a push this year without giving up major assets at just one second rounder.
