The Nuggets fell short last season, and if this season ends the same way, could it be time to explore a rebuild? This series explores that possibility.
Why the Heat do this:
Miami’s been looking for that star point guard for years. After striking out on Donovan Mitchell and Damian Lillard, Jamal Murray could be the next star guard on the market. This is a very reasonable price for a perfect costar for Jimmy Butler. This Heat team would be the best “playoffs only” team of all time, more than they already are.
Why the Nuggets do this:
It’s a low sell on Jamal Murray, but Denver may need to rebuild soon. They get a highly valuable future Heat pick along with younger guys in Ware, Jovic, and Highsmith who could be key roleplayers long-term in the Mile-High City. Rozier could also increase his trade value in a bigger role with a rebuilding Nuggets squad.
