RATIONALE:
ATLANTA HAWKS
With Jalen Johnson out for the season, the Hawks will have trouble keeping up with the playoff pace.
While trading Trae Young stings, it enables them to get their picks back from the Spurs and start their rebuild with the core of Johnson, Dyson Daniels, Onyeka Okongwu and Zaccharie Risacher. They can decide to tank this season in hopes of landing a top prospect.
They also get complementary role players which fits their timeline.
SAN ANTONIO SPURS
They already saw the effect of a good point guard (Chris Paul) alongside Victor Wembanyama. Here they get an upgrade, a younger and more dynamic, although less steady point guard in Trae Young. He'll create opportunities for Wemby and the whole squad while also being a threat to score 30 points per game.
They also get additional interior defender in Clint Capela and a floor-spacer in Bogdan Bogdanovic.
LOS ANGELES LAKERS
A team with LeBron James always has championship expectations. This current team, although talented, has gaps that need to be filled especially PG and C positions.
Here they get the aging but still solid point god, CP3 to team up with his buddy LBJ. They also get young switchable forward Sochan.
Another trade gets them much needed interior help in the presence of Jonas Valanciunas to take the pressure off Anthony Davis. Saddiq Bey is an ideal 3&D guy alongside LBJ.
The price to pay is Rui Hachimura and a couple of pick swaps that will be valuable for the receiving teams.
