Why Toronto Does This:

Shooting is their biggest weakness and Buddy Hield is a top-5 shooter in the NBA. An OG trade is looking likely, the have 2 forwards spots and 3 forwards more than deserving of it. This is great value for OG, Hield + 2 FRPs. The Raptors should do some experimenting with this team for some time before deciding whether to blow it up or go all-in.

Why Indiana Does This:

This is a gamble on OG, he can become an expiring contract. However, the league, and especially the Raptors value OG Anunoby very highly. This will be needed to get OG. They need a young wing to pair Tyrese Haliburton with for the future. They will look to form a big 3 of the future: Bennedict Mathurin, Tyrese Haliburton, and OG Anunoby with Myles Turner at the 5 for some time. This is expensive, but it is worth the risk. The Pacers want to be a competitive team and this gives them just that. They have a lot of potential in a very murky Eastern Conference.
