With the worst of the worst teams being pentalized in the new draft lottery, Bulls do this trade to get depth and remain firmly above teams like the Nets, Grizzlies, and Kings.

Thunder do this for the obvious cap relief, and to get a valuable future first. It's important to note Nets and Bulls are the only realistic teams with cap space this offseason, and MEM, BOS, and DAL are the only teams with enough cap space to take on an 18m+ contract via a trade exception.
