An interesting article came out by Kevin O'Connor about some Warriors trade moves, and Kerr's comments about Draymond have opened up the idea in the media about a potential Draymond Green trade. I wanted to game out how this trade would look in my mind if it came to it.
If Draymond can get back to his old-self, I wouldn't trade him in a million years. But if I were, this would be a haul to reinvigorate the dynasty. Bojan providing some elite off-ball scoring options, Lauri providing scoring off screens, and Walker Kessler taking cuts to the basket and providing interior defense.
Curry-CP3-Thompson-Lauri-Kessler could absolutely compete here and I'd consider them a top 5 contender.
Getting Markkanen is worth trading Wiggins OR Kuminga, Moody, and 2 firsts. But getting him and Kessler would be what I would want to sell on one of the greatest Warriors of all time who has been playing very effectively (when he's played).
Detroit meanwhile has played some of the worst basketball in NBA history. If there's any silver lining, it's that they found that Cade has the grit, the mentality and the talent to compete as their franchise cornerstone. So it's time to get him some help from a proven champion who, like him or not, is one of the highest court-iq guys in the league. Put him on this Pistons team to get their defense elite and let Cade develop into a star.
Jazz fans might be furious that O'Connor was including Kessler in here, but I could absolutely see Ainge selling him (he's sold anyone and everyone for the right price) if he felt like he had a shot at the lottery. He might look at a post-Steph Warriors and a flailing Detroit team as good bets to land a top 3 selection. Let Andrew Wiggins get empty calorie stats, pump his numbers, and dump him for another pick. Or use these and other picks to try to land a legit star when they ask out.
What do you guys think of this trade? I like it for all sides but curious to hear where people land on it
