Why Nuggets do it?

They automatically get a lot better in playmaking and on ball defense. Having Fred bring the ball up the court also allows Murray to play a lot more off-ball allowing him to stay a threat on the court while conserving his energy before crunch time. Another bonus is that on top of the increase in playmaking and perimeter defense, there will not be much of a drop off in 3pt shooting when missing MPJ because Fred is just as dangerous and should become even more efficient with stars like Jokic and Murray opening up space for him. Boucher is also a nice added role player that can provide good backup minutes as a stretch shotblocker. The Nuggets are right there and I believe Fred will be a huge addition in boosting their championship odds.

Why Raptors do it?

Because MPJ is 4 years younger than Fred and has the potential to become an all-star soon while being young. The Raptors are not going anywhere currently and it's best they trade Fred now that he is in his prime years, rather than wasting his prime and value. MPJ fits perfectly in Scottie Barnes' timeline only being three years older leaving the Raptors potential for a very promising future. Also with Barnes and Siakam becoming exceptional playmakers, the starting lineup should not have many issues and if it does; Siakam's trade return will probably net the Raptors' future point guard.
