Ideal Blazers Off-season Start

SUCCESS

Mavs move down in the draft to solve two of their biggest problems: 1) Gain a legit starting Center: Jusuf Nurkic from the Blazers (and move down from #10 to #22 + #43), and 2) They Finally get off of Davis Bertans horrible contract

The Nets get the holy grail: #3 overall and #10 overall picks. If Scoot is still there on the board, they are laughing to the bank. The Nets move up to #10 from the #22 pick (sent to Dallas) to position them incredibly well in one of the best drafts in recent history.

They receive Nassir Little, Kevin Knox, Keon Johnson, and Davis Bertans as salary filler as well. This is nice because Nassir is a promising solid young wing on a cheap long term contract, yet Keon and Kevin both have team options for the nets to potentially shed ~5.8 million in salary if they don’t want to keep them.

The Blazers Re-sign Jerami Grant to a 5yr 135 million contract (a bit of an overpay but that 5th year is what will get Jerami to sign in Portland)

The Blazers move on from Jusuf Nurkic and the #3 overall pick to land Mikal Bridges, and Nic Claxton. What was once one of the worst defensive starting lineups in the NBA now becomes one of the best. Mikal being the point of attack defender now allows Jerami to play more to his strengths defensively, and Nic is one of the most intriguing defensive centers in the NBA. A 3-4-5 defensive lineup of Mikal, Jerami, and Claxton might actually make a 2 guard lineup of Anfernee and Dame work.

Scoot Henderson and ANOTHER top 10 pic is a huge price to pay, but keeping Anfernee simons and adding that much defense around Dame easily launches them into the playoff discussion, while also staying relatively young enough to last for years.
