Is a KAT-Ingram swap realistic?

SUCCESS

I've heard a swap like this be rumoured leading up to the offseason but looking at the T-Wolves cap sheet I'm not sure if this helps them enough with their money situation. Nonetheless cleaning 13 million in cap is not nothing.

The Rationale:

For the Timberwolves:

The Timberwolves only really do this for cap reasons. Their team was good enough to make it to the WCF finals last year but as it stands they are above the 2nd apron and are in a tough spot to be able to maneuver out of it. Trading for Ingram would help keep talent on the roster while cutting 13 million in salary in the process. The question then becomes though, what do they do next offseason when his contract is up?

For the Pelicans:

This roster is currently without a starting calibre centre (unless the plan is to start Zion at the five). There are two reasons then for this deal. KAT is an all-star calibre centre who can space the floor enough for Zion to eat in the paint, offensively this team would be a problem. Additionally, adding decent role players in Brown and Boucher who can help on both ends of the floor would be great and would give depth to the roster. Second, trading both CJ and Ingram in this deal would allow the Pelicans to safely offer Trey Murphy a big salary extension without going into the aprons next year. Yes giving up the Lakers pick next year hurts, but staying out of the apron whilst keeping their key pieces on longterm deals in this new CBA era is huge.

Bobby Marks suggested something in the mid

For the Raptors:

As a rebuilding team looking to offload guys like Brown and Boucher for assets a deal like this is a dream. CJ can mentor the young guys, and the team doesn't necessarily have to be competitive for the next few years so the cap implications aren't a problem. Plus getting another first in next year's draft is great.

For the Nets:

So this would have to be a separate deal between the Raptors and Nets as Vezenkov cannot be dealt with other salaries. The Nets would add Vezenkov with the Patty Mills trade exception while also getting two second rounders effectively for free. At this point, the Nets could negotiate a buyout for Vezenkov who is reportedly unhappy in the NBA and take the 6 million cap hit (though I presume the buyout price would be minimal, even free).
