3-way trade sending Siakam to the thunder and Giddy to the nets

SUCCESS

  1. Nets get their pg of the future and the playmaking that their team desperately needs. They also move on from Spencer Dinwiddie who is likely to leave in the offseason. Cam Thomas they have just decided to bench and history has shown that their coaching staff is not too keen on because he's essentially a black hole on offence that is a negative if not shooting well. They also get another backup pg in Schroeder to help as a vet mentor to Giddey and the rest of the team. The 2 first round picka also entice them as they currently have none for 2024 and have given too many of theirs out from previous trades (ex. Harden)

  2. OKC get their one year rental of Siakam to push them over the edge to become a true contender this year. He gives them a true vet presence to help guide them in the playoffs with his championship experience. They also move on from Giddy who clearly is the odd-man out of the young core, his role is redundant because he cannot space the floor for SGA and JDub yet both players mentioned can fill his role of playmaking. His defence also leaves much to be desired. Siakam also provides them with a larger experienced wing defender to guard the likes of KAT, LeBron, KD, etc. Yes they give up 2 firsts but does it really matter too them much? I mean even if they draft quality players they have no room or time to develop them anyways, they need to give them up one way or another. Trading for Markennen will for SURE cost way more picks, just look at the trade package Danny Ainge got for Rudy Gobert.

  3. Raptors get a secondary shot creator in Spencer Dinwiddie which they clearly lack. David Bertans is also a great 4 to provide extra shooting to the team. They take on Cam Thomas as a risk to see if they can develop him to be a more well-rounded player, and fill a role next to Scottie Barnes as a Jamal Murray to Jokic. Sure they get no firsts but it looks like they're going for a younger retool not a full rebuild anyways.
