In this Trade the Pistons get rid of Olynyk to end their Log Jam at Center/ Power Forward (Duren, Stewart, Olynyk, Bagley, Noel) so instead of having a pretty solid center like Kelly Olynyk be a 3rd stringer, you can flip him for young talent like THT, who is pretty overrated by the Lakers organization (They had a deal almost completed for Kyle Lowry at the 2021 Trade Deadline, Who at the time, was playing at a high level, averaging 17 points while playing good defense and being a good shooter and playmaker, which he is doing at Miami besides the scoring (His scoring dropped down to 13 PPG), THT had a pretty rough year and if Miami asked for THT to complete a trade for Kyle Lowry, the Lakers would probably do it in a heartbeat now) The Pistons get to add young talent who can flourish in a spot like Detroit who isn't winning games right now and focusing on developing talent like Cade, Ivey, Bey, Bagley, Duren. Some people might say that Killian Hayes didn't develop in Detroit but lately guys like the Pistons have taken chances on players who haven't developed on their team like Hamidou Diallo, Marvin Bagley, Dennis Smith, Kevin Knox, They have developed many steals in the draft such as Saddiq Bey, Isaiah Stewart, Luka Garza, Isaiah Livers, Saben Lee and we will see how they do with Jaden Ivey and Jalen Duren who were both steals. Detroit has developed draft steals and players who other teams gave up on so is the blame really on the Team for not developing Killian Hayes? I would say no. At some point you have to blame the players, so Killian Hayes should not be used as an example for If you think THT won't succeed in Detroit. The Lakers do this to get depth at the Center position and so they can get spacing.
