I've decided to bring back the old KD trades series as there is still no end in sight but we have an update: KD wants to go to the Celtics or Sixers along with his previous preferences.

In this deal, KD winds up in Philly to create a three-headed offensive monster with two true current MVP candidates along with a former MVP just a few years removed from his prime. This immediately eliminates the brief parity that we had in the league in the Eastern Conference in the void left by the LeBron-era Cavaliers and Heat. The Sixers also retain several quality role players in Niang, Melton, Tucker and acquiring McDermott and Griffin. McDermott's contract is a negative asset to the Spurs but could help Philly in creating depth. Griffin will try a Melo-style career renaissance in a 76ers uniform. All of this means that they are not completely starved of depth either, creating possibly the most complete team of all time, with expectations rivalling the success of Michael Jordan's Bulls.

However, the Sixers must give up every single pick that they own for the rest of the decade to get this deal done. The main beneficiary of this is the Brooklyn Nets, who end up with four first-round pick swaps and four second round picks. (I'm not sure how to create a pick swap in this trade machine, so all picks sent to Brooklyn listed as protected by favorability are the Nets having the right to swap with the 76ers in some way.) They also get a player who projects to become a future all-star in Maxey, an elite perimeter defender in Thybulle, an elite interior defender in Poeltl, and solid wing role players in Richardson and Korkmaz. They also get an aging big man to replace Griffin in Dieng. This starts a solid rebuild in Brooklyn around Maxey, Thybulle, Simmons, and whoever comes in return for Irving, whether that be around Horton-Tucker and some kind of Westbrook trade or any other scenario that ends up going down. The Nets have done this before, built a solid team using only other teams' picks, in the aftermath of the infamous Garnett/Pierce deal, and they will have to do it again in the aftermath of the Harden deal that will become just as infamous from the Nets' perspective.

To take in Durant's contract, the Sixers needed to clear cap space. This is where the Spurs come in. They do Philly a favor and take on Harris' contract, being compensated with two future second round picks. They also get rid of some older role players that don't fit their timeline in order to keep their payroll low in Richardson, Dieng, McDermott and Poeltl as they will not serve much purpose for the Spurs as they tank for Wembanyama. Harris could end up being a CP3-in-OKC kind of value increase and could be flipped to a contender in exchange for other young talent. Sumner also goes to San Antonio and, knowing the Spurs' coaching staff, anything could become of him.

TLDR: Overall, this trade helps every team involved. A true dynasty is created in Philadelphia, one of the best teams ever constructed. Brooklyn re-enters the rebuild phase with a boost from Philly's picks along with the young players. And San Antonio completes the tank while acquiring a couple more picks and getting rid of some vets that don't fit their timeline.
