Welcome back to kawntent sports, where we have a relatively simple trade here: De'Andre Hunter in exchange for Dorian Finney-Smith and Royce O'Neale.
Why the Nets do this:
The Nets deal two older players for one similar younger guy. This opens up a roster spot and puts them more on the Mikal Bridges and Ben Simmons timeline.
Why the Hawks do this:
This deal gives the Hawks some players in Finney-Smith and O'Neale that are similar to Hunter but on contracts that expire sooner, enabling them to incorporate Onyeka Okongwu's extension into their plans easier. This continues the salary dumping trend they started with John Collins this offseason.
