Draft day trades

SUCCESS

Coby to Bulls for both of Magic's firsts - this trade has been predicted and rumored everywhere, no additional explanation needed.

Bulls send #16 and Jalen Smith to ATL - ATL is looking for a center and PF, and has been widely mocked with PF Rasheer Fleming at #13. They get a 25yo 40% 3pt shooting stretch center on a great contract, move back 3 spots and there's a good chance they get Fleming there anyway as well.

Bulls send #25 and #45 to Miami for #20 - Players between like 20-33 or so are all about the same level and just rotate in everyone's mock. Miami largely does this trade for an extra player in this draft. Pat Riley says a shake up is coming this summer, which likely means a big star coming in and multiple players (including at least 2-3 young guys) going out. Miami getting an extra young guy in this draft could be a huge benefit later, especially considering the guys like Rocco Zikarsky, Drake Powell, and Tyrese Proctor are all mocked around there (all three of those guys would have been late firsts in the 2024 draft). They currently need to draft a PG, and if Kel'el Ware ends up in a KD-like trade, being able to draft another center in addition to the PG would be clutch.

Bulls keep #12, #13, #20 - Draft PF/C Sorber, SG Coward, and PF/C Danny Wolf. Certainly some interesting line up options. If I'm the bulls, I prefer future capital to a bunch of picks in this year's draft. But if they're committed to building out of this draft, this would be a pathway to do it with reasonable trades for everyone involved.
