Why These Teams Do This

76ers

• End the Simmons drama.

• Jaylen Brown slides in easily to Doc Rivers' system. He'll provide immediate offense as a primary scorer both on and off the ball.

• Add much needed depth. 76ers have been plagued by injuries this season, and adding young serviceable players off the bench should take some of the minutes burden off of their starting five.

• Score an immediate first rounder to try and compensate for losing Simmons.

Boston

• Its been clear this season that the current makeup of the team isn't going to win any championships. Adding Simmons gives them a clear ball handler and slashing threat.

• Simmons is an elite defender. When he's healthy I believe he is a top 3 defender in the league. For a team that currently ranks 29th in the league in oPPG (opponent's points per game) they desperately need an elite defender.

• Add a bench 3-D guard to keep their depth.

Orlando

• Orlando is here to make the 76ers play ball with the Celtics.

• Magic are looking to shed cap and add picks as they tank for the next 1-2 seasons. T. Ross has larger contract that I'm sure Orlando would be fine parting with for a backup defensive PF (especially due to the uncertainty surrounding J. Isaac).

• C. Okeke doesn't have the spot on the roster he once did. With F. Wagner playing as well as he is so early, and with Isaac coming back, it's hard to justify him in the roster. Moving him allows them to get 2 future second rounders in this deal.
