Is this more common than people think?

SUCCESS

Ja gets sent to a "Stable" franchise. Has a 1-year window where its "technically" his team at least Offensively with great perimeter D in derrick white and JB. Yes, this may cause some contract concerns in the future but they weren’t resigning Simons to begin with outside of a career year in which they could get outbid. They would’ve needed to sign him to the exact deal Morant is on currently. This move also increases Boston’s rim pressure in which they’ve been middle of the pack for a few years.

Memphis reasoning is simple. Boston is a prime candidate as Ja goes out east Simons is the same age so their timeline is intact in a stacked west. Gaining decent draft compensation for a player who has proven to be a massive headache for the organization. Not sure if they win this trade but they definitely aren’t getting fleeced.
