TRADE
Gobert and Rivers to the Pacers for Nesmith, Washington, and a second-round pick.
Towns and Knight to the Rockets for Kaminsky, Martin Jr and a 1st-round pick
The purpose of this move is to dump large contracts of both KAT and Gobert to teams with the most cap space while maintaining their roster as a title contender. It is a combination of young guns that are willing to be mentored by veterans while surrounding ANT with scorers and passers.
Both teams will not pass up this trade as they are sacrificing very little in exchange.
The Rockets do not need first-rounders anymore as they already have tons of young blood on their team. They also get to keep their early first-round pick where they could land Henderson or Miller. Also, there is a chance Harden might sign with them, so that makes them immediately a threat with KAT and Green.
As for the Pacers, not giving up a first pick and giving away role players for Gobert is ideal, since they are considering shopping Turner in the FA market.
SIGN
Kyle Kuzma for a 2-year 11.4M deal.
DRAFT (via Rockets second first-round pick)
19 or #20 Dereck Lively II or Trayce Jackson Davis. We will be needing a big man for the loss of Gobert and Towns.
STARTING 5
C - Reid
PF - Kuzma
SF - Martin Jr
SG - Edwards
PG - Conley
BENCH Alexander-Walker, Prince, Washington, Lively II, Kaminsky, Nesmith, Moore Jr, McLaughlin, Minott
WAIVE Matt Ryan, Jaylen Nowell, Luka Garza
TAKEAWAYS The key to this are the stretch bigs. Both Reid and Prince helped win a game against Denver with a mindset of not shooting like a guard. They only shoot when needed. But they still stay inside the rim and play their role, which is the opposite of what KAT is doing offensively.
Also, I believe Reid is good enough to be starting. Can shoot, defend and run back quickly to the opposing floor. Lively or Jackson Davis will be a poor-mans version of Gobert in the paint, getting dirty for rebounds and blocks.
This roster might not immediately make the playoffs but it saves the team's future and it won't take them too long to compete for a title like the Kings.
