This trade is for Ayton to get moved to Portland Portland does this to add an All Star Caliber player who is at an all time low price currently and they don't have to give up too much to acquire him. Phoenix does this because they try to shore up on their draft capital and they add depth with Nassir Little. Phoenix has seen that they can play good with any center that they insert for Ayton as results aren't much different from when DA is in, so they get someone in Nurkic who can score and get boards for them as well as someone who can play physical. They also acquire Nassir Little who is a very good defender and is someone that Phoenix can finally slot in at Small Forward to help their weakness at that position, he also replaces some of the defense left on the table by Mikal Bridges. They also add Thybulle for defensive purposes and he bolsters their bench. Portland is slowly trying to build a contender around Dame and acquiring Ayton is the first step for this. After this they can maybe try and acquire someone like Derozan or Ayton.
