NOTE: Trade can happen 10/1, well before the season starts
In: Harden, House Out: Hawyard, Bridges, Smith, Protected 2027 1st, 2 2nds
Why for the Hornets? - CHA has new owners, and would love to compete (and sell tickets)... A Harden / Ball backcourt could be devastating (offensively) in the East, and they protect against each other getting injured. House comes along for salary, but can provide a bench piece, and this deal makes the #2 pick Miller (with Martin as a backup) the solid #1 at SF. They do give up Smith and a future 1st (as well as a few extra 2nds), but get to sell Harden on staying in Charlotte for a while.
Why for PHI? - Morey doesn't get a superstar, but he does get 2 solid contributors, and Harden is making things uncomfortable - this is a way to compete this year, see if Bridges or Hayward can be a solid fit next to Embiid, and keep the keg dry for a max offer in 2024. Nick Smith is a possible contributor or asset in February, and they pick up a future 1st and 2 2nds for trades as well.
