Benefits for the Raptors : I’m concerned that he won’t be properly utitilized by the Raptors but TM3s high production with a lower usage rate does give me a bit of hope that he can work well beside a defensive anchor in Barnes who can also help create quality looks for him. Shooting is a need for the Raptors and I think with TM3s volume, he can help transform the Raptors from a bottom 5 3-pt shooting team to an average one at least. Yves Missi fills the backup centre role where he’s given an opportunity to grow and become a starter in the future.

Benefits for the Pelicans : Whether RJ Barrett works well in Pelican or not, RJ Barrett is still a great downhill attacker and an especially a good scorer in transition. He plays with pace and works well with teams that force a lot of turnovers. His contract is especially favourable cause even if the RJ experiment doesn’t work well. You get to clear 30 million off your books since he becomes an expiring contract for next season. If you wanna bring him back, I don’t think he will command a large contract in free agency and with Pelicans owning his bird rights, you can get him on the roster for cheap by simply matching his highest offers. Gradey is also a shooter worth giving minutes too, he seemed to flourish when he played 25+ minutes but struggles when he plays under that amount of minutes. He’s surprisingly a good cleanup dunker as well off misses. Also 3 frps can get you big names anywhere in the future, good to stockpile on some of them for a trade down the line to complete the retool.
