Warriors
acquire Simmons and draft capital in exchange for mid/low-value bench pieces.
ship out Wiggins salary for space.
R/R: providing him with the staff, training and coaching expertise in the Warriors organization, take a chance on reinvigorating Ben Simmons's career. Allow his facilitation, as well as adding much needed size and defensive prowess to bolster an offense heavy roster.
At worst, you have 40M in expiring salary, retained 2nd RD draft capital, and offloaded Wiggins contract.
At best, while being surrounded by Kerr's staff, the greatest shooter and potentially most motivating teammate (yes, Draymond Green), returns the Ben Simmons of old and perhaps even improved. He can be resigned on a cheaper, multiyear deal and give way to a new future for the Dubs.
Nets
offload Ben Simmons in exchange for more expiring money, and potentially moveable contracts for the deadline.
essentially swap Schroeder for D. Russell.
R/R:
At worst, you still have the 40M in expiring salary you would have otherwise with Simmons, just increased flexibility. Shipped out two* distant 2nd's for that flexibility.
At best, the team brings back the most entertaining and beloved piece they've in years in D'Angelo Russell. Amends are made and D'lo is able to bring back that high energy, motor, and experience to a young team that will be adding 4 1st Rounders in 2025 and potentially the #1 OV. The pieces acquired from the Dubs will be moveable at, or near the Deadline and value can be recouped and then some.
Lakers
swap D'lo for Schroeder.
R/R:
At worst, you lost the offensive prowess D'Lo provided. Shipped out a 2nd to facilitate a deal that barely moves the needle for your organization.
At best, as with the Nets, you provide your fans with a beloved piece from previous years, and provide much needed defense to your backcourt. Opens up $5M in cap space.
Raptors
acquire Maple Jordan.
R/R:
No Best or Worst here. You swapped Brown for another hometown kid + one/two* 2nds. No one wanted Bruce Brown last year, or he would have been moved. The chances of moving him for a piece that will make more of a difference than Wiggins here is slim.
Wiggins bolsters your bench as an aging former #1 OV with size, shooting, (potentially) defense, and most importantly experience.
*BK 2030 2nd originally went to GS, but seemed fairer to send over to the Raps for facilitating salary and taking on Wiggins's deal.
*LA 2031 also was sent implying D'lo's current negative trade value. Likely LA will retain that pick.
