Pelicans need a center that can stretch the floor. And they are facing a money crunch. I think they lock up Herb Jones and would be open to shopping Trey Murphy.

Kelly Olynyk fills the need for The Pelicans. Plus they get a valuable SRP and a future FRP

Trey Murphy is on the right timeline for the Raptors and he adds shooting, defense and size to our wing. A pretty good pairing with Barnes I think.

I would be sad to see Olynyk leave the Raptors, but I think this trade is worth it.

Many may think that the Pelicans are not getting enough value back for Murphy. And you are probably correct. I considered A S&T with Gary Trent and sending him along too, but I believe that the Pelicans do not want to add more salary to their roster so I kept is simple.
