Why both teams would do this:
Bucks: The Giannis era is over. The Bucks aren’t winning and aren’t contenders anymore, their players are old and the pieces they had when they won their championship are all gone. It’s time to blow it up and start anew with an incredible young player and some new draft capital.
Lakers: Austin Reaves has been great this season, he really has been, however in terms of greatness, Giannis is a huge step up. LA would merely give up one first and a swap as well as Austin, Dalton Knecht, and some other role players, to get a spectacular player that will anchor down the big man spot at a near MVP caliber for at least 2-3 more years. This allows them to have the greatest chance to win more championships with Bron and Luka rn.
What each team does afterwards:
Bucks: Trade their old talent and enter rebuilding mode. See if they can build with pieces centered around Austin Reaves and look ahead to a new era. Bucks fans may not like this, but it’s for the betterment of the teams future as it currently has none.
Lakers: It’s simple, they would compete at the highest level for at least this year and likely a few to come.
Also Thansis an Alex come along to make Giannis feel more at home in LA.
