Jaylen Brown was very weak for the Celtics during key playoff games. Jayson Tatum is obviously the player that the Celtics are trying to build around in Boston, and the combination of primary ball handlers between Brown and Tatum just isn't working anymore. In this scenario the Nets use part of what they got for Kevin Durant to go and get Jaylen Brown to help build around their bright future. This trade really benefits both teams, and turns the Celtics into title contenders once more.
