In order to completely understand the moves a team makes the timeline of events must be listed as well.
Pre Draft
Bucks make no moves before the draft
Draft
Pick 23 the Bucks select Pacome Dadiet
Bucks trade Pat Connaughton and Pick 33 to the Warriors for Pick 52 and Gary Payton
Pick 52 the Bucks select Tristen Newton
Bucks trade MarJon Beauchamp to the Mavs for Pick 58 and a 2028 Heat SRP
Pick 58 the Bucks select Isaac Jones
Explanation: The Bucks may reach a bit for Dadiet as he fits the big wing shooter archtype that they need on their bench. The Bucks save some money by trading for Payton while also getting the perfect back court running mate for Dame. They save more money by trading Beauchamp for a late SRP. This also gets them a few cheaper prospects to help add youth immediately.
Free Agency
Bucks sign both SRPs to 4 year deals starting at 1.3 million with team options in year 3 and non guaranteed contracts in year 4.
As apart of a larger deal including Brandon Ingram, Zach Lavine, and more the Bucks trade Brook Lopez for Norman Powell
Bucks add some shooting in the front court by signing recently waived Davis Bertans to a minimum contract lasting 2 years. The final year is a team option.
Bucks add more front court depth by signing another recently waived player in Jock Landale to a similar deal but with a player option in the second year.
Bucks add another big by signing Xavier Tillman to the same deal as Bertans.
Start of Season
Starting lineup:
Lillard
Payton
Middleton
Antetokounmpo
Portis
The bench is completely reformed now being lead by Norman Powell and Andre Jackson in the back court. The front court is a bit questionable with Landale and Bertans coming in to play alongside Portis or Antetokounmpo. AJ Green gets spot minutes when needed.
During the season
The starting unit is one of the top 3 units in the league but the bench is struggling to hold ground when Giannis and Dame aren't in the lineup. By signing their SRPs to deals they avoid the 2nd apron which allows them to be buyers on the buyout market. They will likely trade one of Landale, Tillman, or Bertans away simply to open a roster spot. They also strongly consider bringing in Derrick Rose to help the bench unit even more while converting one of their SRPs to a two way contract.
