The Suns decided to take a step back, are the Rockets contenders now?

SUCCESS

First of all, I think that the Suns, due to bad management moves, came to the point where they went "all in" and are not even close to contenders in the west. The last move that was supposed to be a salvation was Jimmy Butler, who was traded to the Warriors yesterday. The Suns have to start thinking about the future because they have no room for upgrades with this team. KD enters the last year of his contract in the summer and the Suns don't have too much leverage to keep him.

On the other hand, the Rockets are young and powerful team that looks serious with a couple of veterans and good management. I still think they don't have the experience to do anything more, but KD is the player who can take them to the promised land.

Now the main reason for trading KD to the Rockets is because the Rockets hold their picks. Recently, we witnessed how the Nets team could not start rebuilding because they gave their picks to the Rockets in a trade for Harden. However, last offseason they managed to bring them back by giving the Rockets picks from the Suns. The Suns will do the same now, plus they will get 2,3 young players around whom they can build their future.

The only segment in the trade that I would see could be a problem is Reed Shepard. But the Rockets have enough young players like Amen, Green & Sengun around which you will build a team.

Van Vleet, Green, Amen, KD, Segun w few good bench pieces.

Do you think the Rockets can win the West with this team?
