I guess everyone has seen all the trade ideas of Giannis to the Knicks, Heat, Warriors, Wolves, even Blazers, Pelicans, and I prefer not to do similar trades like how everyone in Fanspo has been posting. Just feels like the Lakers are getting counted out in all these trade talks, and I can’t lie I’m surprised
Well I’m here to present to you a crazy 4 team that will send multiple all stars to new homes
The trade is very complicated, as I try to keep everything as realistic as possible
Therefore, please head to the descriptions as I break down this trade step by step
Part 1: Giannis to the Lakers
Lakers: Giannis Antetokounmpo, Thanasis Antetokounmpo, 2032 MIL FRP swap worst
Bucks: LeBron James, Austin Reaves, Bronny James, 2031 LAL FRP, 2032 LAL FRP swap best
One year ago, out of nowhere Anthony Davis got traded for Luka Doncic. This trade told everyone that if it is for a better Lakers future, no one is untouchable. Of course, LeBron is is an even bigger name than Anthony Davis, but this is Giannis that they are about to get. Every NBA fan should know how scary a duo of Luka and Giannis is
There are reports of LeBron’s Lakers days coming to an end by , I guess given Lakers slight falloff in recent months, both the Lakers organization and LeBron himself will feel like a split up is near
For Austin Reaves, it just feels like the Lakers will be hesitant giving him a payday. Just like Luka with Kyrie, it is hard for both of them to shine together, their roles on the court are overlapped. Yes these 2 were insanely great together at the start of the season, Lakers also are playing well as a whole, but when the guy they can trade Reaves for is Giannis, you just cannot say no
To acquire Giannis, you have to throw everything you have to the Bucks. However, the Lakers are short on picks, only one tradable first rounder, therefore both LeBron and Reaves have to go
(Package deal: LeBron goes with Bronny, Giannis goes with Thanasis)
Part 2: LeBron to the Warriors
Warriors: LeBron James, Bronny James
Bucks: Jimmy Butler, Trayce Jackson-Davis, 2026 GSW FRP
LeBron does have a no trade clause, so if you want to trade him, it has to be a destination he’s happy with. Golden State certainly will be a destination he wants to be in. To finally team up with Curry (and Draymond…)? Would be a dream
(Draymond can finally play with his crush and will wet his pants, also downing the whole bottle of LeBron Hennessy the moment he hear the news)
For the Warriors, in the Curry Era you basically have to give your best shot every single year, but the organization knows this is not the year, there are way better teams in the West. So as a fan I don’t hope the Warriors to put much future assets into committing to this season. This LeBron trade gives us a star to use right away with Butler injured, while only giving up the pick this year and no further
We got to see it, Curry x LeBron
Part 3: Jimmy to the Blazers
Blazers: Jimmy Butler
Bucks: Jerami Grant, Robert Williams, Matisse Thybulle, returned swap rights in 2028, 3 SRPs
This is a very interesting idea imo. Butler projects to be out until around 2027, Dame isn’t back until next season. Blazers are still not good enough to compete this year in the playoffs
Having the Bucks swap rights turned out to be of tremendous value right now, if Giannis is gone, a rebuild is not expected to be completed by 2028. Bucks will desperately want their swaps and picks back, and Blazers can take advantage of that with its high value
Taking Butler in is a risk, no one knows how a 37 years old perform after an ACL injury, but for this cheap? You gotta have to take the risk, a high risk super high reward move. And for next season, even without Butler this team should be in playoff contention, imagine half way into the season when Blazers are top 8 seed, then Butler comes into the squad? Could be a rebuild faster than anyone expect
(The trade could work only sending Grant, Thybulle and Kris Murray instead of Rob Williams, but that puts Blazers into the tax and there’s no reason for them to go into the tax already this year, therefore Robert Williams has to be included)
Part 4: Grant to the Lakers
Lakers: Jerami Grant, Amir Coffey
Bucks: Rui Hachimura, Dalton Knecht
Like I said previously, the Lakers have to give everything to the Bucks to acquire Giannis. They do everything to satisfy the Bucks, and the Bucks won’t prefer to have Grant’s 3 years 102M contract during a rebuild. Therefore the Lakers send Rui who is an expiring contract and Dalthon Knecht who can use a switch of team and scenario for Jerami Grant, who won’t be a bad fit for this new look Lakers team, just that his contract is ass
(Lakers have to send out Dalton Knecht as well to duck 1st apron)
Bucks:
For this trade, Giannis wants to leave, they flip him for LeBron and Reaves. They won’t want LeBron, they trade him for Jimmy. They also won’t want Jimmy, they trade him for Grant. Lastly they won’t want Grant, they trade him for expirings
At last, they end up with Austin Reaves, expirings with Rui Hachimura, Robert Williams and Matisse Thybulle, rookie contracts with Dalton Knecht and Trayce Jackson Davis, 2 first rounders, 1 swap best, and their swap rights to the Blazers returned in 2028. This may not seem like much, but comparing to other potential deals, below are the selling points of this:
First, I don't think any other team can provide a player as good as Austin Reaves. When being the first option, he has proven himself that he can be a 25/5/5 guy, actually running the offense, and creating his own shot on high efficiency. This can hardly be acquired from Giannis trade packages from other teams
Reaves is a guy you can focus on building around, that gives a clear objective for the Bucks. Tyler Herro? Julius Randle? Etc? You don’t trust these guys to be the first option
Second, this trade gives the Bucks 2028 to rebuild. As things stand, Bucks do not have pick control of themselves from 2026 to 2030. This year should be fine, as a swap with the Pelicans does not affect them. However for 2027, they won’t have their pick, which means there’s no benefit for them to tank. If they just don’t have any pick control all the way to 2030, they won’t be good, and they cannot acquire promising draft prospects high up the draft. That is the worst situation for a NBA team
This trade gives the Bucks one year to tank, or in other words, complete freedom. If they’re good enough, go compete, if they still suck? Tank for top picks
In conclusion, for a trade deadline Giannis move? The Lakers probably have the best package, but that will have to involve the help from 2 other teams to get the ultimate package for the Bucks
