Insane Six Team Trade! (Repost)

FAILED

Fanspo only allows me to do 5 team trades, the details of the sixth team are below

The Hawks: -Receive: Bruce Brown (using Dejounte Murray's TE) -Trade: Larry Nance (to Toronto), Kobe Bufkin (to Cleveland), a 2027 second round pick from LAC (to Cleveland)

This trade keeps the Hawks under the first-apron hard cap. Also, I don't think Larry Nance can be officially dealt (with other players) until September 4th. This could be skirted though if the Hawks agree to deal Kobe Bufkin in this first deal for cash considerations and then the Raptors and Hawks deal Nance for Bruce Brown in a separate deal (however I presume the league would frown upon this). Nonetheless, the teams may need to wait till September to officially complete this trade.

The Trade

The Rationale

For the Cavs:

There were so many rumours swirling around this Cavs team all last year, particularly focused around their backcourt. The team played better with Mitchell as their sole guard and with one big man on the court. This deal then does a number of things for the Cavs. It gives them a solid offensive option on the wing in Brandon Ingram, who can give you more offence than Mobley could. Austin Reaves is a solid role player who can play off the ball and allow Mitchell to takeover as the lead guard. Finally, it helps the Cavs restock their draft capital as they gain 4 1sts and 2nds, plus another young player in Kobe Bufkin. Though giving up Mobley hurts, to regain all this while arguably remaining just as competitive is huge. Plus the team does not add too much salary, even with Ingram's extension next year.

I have included Bruce Brown here as a holder for the Kobe Bufkin and 2nd rounder slots.

For the Pelicans:

It seems as though the Pelicans do not want to pay Ingram the amount for an extension that he would like. This deal allows the Pelicans then to offload Ingram for valuable bench pieces that won't be a drain on their cap space into the future (especially considering a new Trey Murphy deal). Plus it gives the Pelicans a starting calibre centre in Poeltl. The first rounder from Indiana is a nice addition as well. Plus, the Pelicans snag Gary Trent on a sign and trade using their Valancunias TE so they can still use the little bit of their remaining MLE to grab a final piece for the bench. Gary signs a 4 year deal, with a player option in the fourth year.

For the Lakers:

The Lakers add their third all-star to pair beside AD and Lebron. Garland is excellent, he's young, he can lead an offence, and can really facilitate for this team when Lebron is off the floor. Plus the Lakers also add a solid backup centre in Dayron Sharpe, who could still even develop into something a bit more. Giving up Austin Reaves and the picks hurt, but the Lakers get to protect their 2031 first which is huge. Plus giving up D'lo isn't all that bad imo. Getting a third star while retaining some depth is huge for this team.

The Lakers would also do this deal as it would allow them to open up some cap to resign Spencer Dinwiddie. I understand that this is below market value for him, however in theory lets say that Dinwiddie wants to return to help this team win for this deal, and the only way to sign him is to clear up some cap for him to sign. His deal is a 2 year deal with the second year being a player option.

For the Raptors:

The Raptors are not going to be competitive next year, perhaps a play-in team at best. Furthermore it seems that the team has no interest in bring Garry Trent back. This deal allows them to continue to tank, while adding a valuable piece for the future and cashing in on some assets now. The real prize for the Raptors is getting Evan Mobley. This is the guy they wanted in the 2021 draft and they reportedly tried to even move up for him. He will do wonders for their defence moving forwards.

Yes the Raptors have to give up some of their picks even, but Mobley is the kind of guy you dream of getting in a draft. They still have their own pick next year which likely will be pretty valuable and they keep their young core in place. They can go into next year not worried about results and end up with a stronger team in the long run.

For the Nets:

D'lo for Dayron Sharpe seems like a no brainer. Yes he's on a lot bigger of a deal but with his expiring contract and the numbers he can put up, expect some teams to come knocking come trade deadline time, and the Nets could potentially get more value for him than they otherwise would have gotten for Sharpe.

For the Hawks:

The Hawks add a solid role player in Bruce Brown for cheap. He can be an excellent piece in the backcourt beside Trae Young, doing whatever is necessary to win, while not getting in Trae's way. The Hawks do not have to pay much to get this deal done, and can remain competitive going into next year. The money just works on this deal for the Hawks who remain under the first apron hard cap by a few million.
