After the Bennedict Mathurin trade, the Pelicans now have ridiculous depth on the wings, a position where the Heat are sorely lacking. Could this deal be mutually beneficial?

Why the Pelicans do this:

Between Mathurin, Murphy, and Jones, the Pelicans will probably struggle to find minutes for Saddiq Bey this year, a player who has established himself as a valuable role player in New Orleans. It may also be time to get rid of Jordan Hawkins, who has struggled in his time as a Pelican. New Orleans acquires two valuable swaps from a shallow, aging Heat roster, as well as a fan favorite and valuable mentor in Bobby Portis who can take some of the load off of Derik Queen and Yves Missi at that center position.

Why the Heat do this:

Miami is desperate for wing scoring and guards with potential, and this deal brings both to South Beach. Hawkins showed serious potential in college and could seriously improve with the Heat development staff and a change of scenery, while Saddiq Bey is a win-now piece who could see serious minutes immediately. This team is built to win now, and while they don't currently have the role players to do it, this trade is a step in the right direction toward fixing that problem.
