Memphis should push in their chips for the Trey Murphy sweepstakes. I've been thinking it for a while and I've always thought they've had one of the stronger packages to go for it.
So why do the Grizzlies do it? Cause Trey Murphy's an absolute baller who still fits their timeline, and no the timeline does not include Ja Morant anymore. Honestly simple as, he can be their next cornerstone and build around him. Not to say he's a superstar in the making, though that remains to be seen, I just mean that he can be someone who would be untouchable for them like how Draymond is for the Warriors, though his ass should've never been considered untouchable but I digress. I don't think more really needs to be said here on Memphis' front.
And why do the Pelicans do this trade? Well cause this is a really strong return I feel like. Now do they have too many point guards on the team after the deal is done? Yeah prolly, but I think it's a rather nice problem to have in this scenario, mainly because the 2 Point Guards you do get back here would be making the least off of your shelves, and they can play combo guard roles next to Fears who I assume will be their Point Guard of the future. And Jerome plus Pippen Jr. are both really fricking good ball players man. And add along to that Jaylen Wells who was a breakout finding for them last year, honestly don't know how Memphis finds so much valuable players in the draft, I swear it shouldn't be possible. And the picks are pretty delicate, now I don't know how good the Grizzlies will be in 2028, but I'm willing to bet that's still a lottery pick, and the 2 Orlando picks look really valuable right now that their roster's kind of an unexpected mess.
