With Fournier having a team option in the final year of his contract, Detroit can either let him go or bring him back. Opens up a decent amount of cap space when added to the other expiring deals they have. Getting their first round pick back this year is much more valuable in the grand scheme of things than Bagley, and likewise for the Knicks giving up the protected first is worth it to get a solid backup PF to take the weight off Randle.
