As you know, Jimmy went down with an ACL tear yesterday, and this is the deal I have the Warriors making in order to stay in contention. This is a 4 team deal, and one that I think benefits all sides. Here is my breakdown of the trade;
Warriors
By acquiring Sabonis, the Warriors are set at the center position, the position that has been the weakest in their history. Al Horford, TJD and Post are not good enough centres on a team trying to win in the last years of Curry’s prime, so they need someone who can score and be that elite rebounder in case Curry misses a shot. Sabonis is perfect for this.
The warriors are forced to give up fan favourite Heild, but that could be something they are forced to do in order to get Curry help.
Kings
The Kings are not a good team at all and they need a retooling. Sabonis most likely wouldn’t be the first to go, as the Kings have an influx of guards, however Sabonis would have the highest market for him, and will most likely net them the best value.
Sacramento has wanted Kuminga for quite some time, also add in Moody and 2 firsts and the Kings have a package that in my mind they can not resist.
Hawks
After the Trae Young deal, the Hawks have had shooting issues throughout the entire team. McCollum has been extremely disappointing, so that leaves just Kispert and Kennard as shooters on this team. By adding Hield, they attempt to fix these shooting issues.
Gary Payton can help Risacher with his development, so that’s a plus. Atlanta could very well be overlaying for Heild, but i think it’s worth it to try and make a run in the east.
Wizards
By getting Al Horford, it gives Alex Sarr a true mentor for the first time in his career. Horford as a bench player still has some value as well, so they could be getting some quality minutes from him this year and next year.
Washington is only giving up 2 seconds for him, so it’s not an overpay by any means
Please give me your thoughts and red back on this deal, I think this is one of my more realistic and best trades on the site, but I wanna know how you guys, especially Warriors, Kings, Hawks and Wizards fans feel about it.
